All these calls for Joe to withdraw and I just remembered that Missouri voters chose Mel Carnahan in a senate race in in 2000 after he literally died. Maybe elections are about more than physical vigor?

“We’re not going to be the victims of crime” framing on the right creates justification for engaging in “preemptive” (unprovoked) violence. There is an escalation point after which we can’t stop an ongoing wave of bad things. It requires public social condemnation to prevent us getting there.

In the late 90s when I was on the poli sci market with a job talk on free speech I would get a (haughty and dismissive) comment from a senior dude in the back "why should we care about this, it is all settled law." Didn't get those jobs. Surely the TARDIS was invented for academic score settling.
