In almost every other country candidates running in a November election wouldn’t even start its campaign until September, or later.

In many other representative democracies, they'd literally be barred by law from spending ANY electioneering money until August at the earliest.

and we get debates starting in August (of the year prior to the actual election)

I dont know the full extent of this specific law, but in Quebec, an election process is regulated and lasts a month. Of course it starts way before this, but ads and official campaign stuff is strictly confined in this time slot.
