When I learned to drive, Mapquest didn’t exist. We went to AAA & met w/ a trip advisor, who prepared highlighted & notated "TripTiks." Our "navigator" rode shotgun & called out exits, gas stations, restaurants, lefts, rights, & straights. We still got lost & pissed on the shoulder of the interstate.

I had books! For the major cities I spent time in.
