My local grocer now puts a "Lowest Price Since 20XX" next to sale items. And the longer that time is, the more tempting it is. Welch's Juice had a sale late last year saying "Lowest Price Since 1998" and we're only now killing the last bottles..

Yet another good thread for folks trying to understand the complexities/tradeoffs of content moderation...

It didn't. They've always had a hybrid model where they use Hive Moderation (hivemoderation.com ) to scan images for CSAM, CSEM, murder images, beheadings, animal crush images, etc etc, and to label and classify content that's NSFW, violent, etc , and humans handle actual reports.

Dammit. I just heard about a game that sounds PERFECT for me... aaaand it's already dead. Lemnis Gate, a two player 5v5 MOBA, with 4 minute matches.

Every 'round', you get to play 1 character from your team, and 30 seconds to earn points on the map. So, you might stand on a control point, or shoot an enemy generator. Of course, your enemy is trying to do the same, so act fast - you've got 30 seconds!

After that, you get 15 seconds to choose a new hero from your team, and you re-enter the battlefield. The twist here? Your first character also re-enters the battlefield, and goes through the exact same actions you take. Your teammates are YOU, from 30 seconds ago.

Third round comes in, and that's where the complexity comes into play. Say your scout took a point in round 1. An enemy sniper takes out the scout in round 2; no point taken. Your tank tanks the shot in round 3; point taken again.

By round 5, you're down to your last person. Did you save your best hero for last, or did you use your best hero in order to create the best possible timelines to choose from? How much time did you spend in trying to counter the enemy, versus pushing the points needed to win?

It sounds like the FPS version of 5D Multiverse Chess With Time Travel aaaand it's already dead and gone.

soon every employee will be required to wear these. monitoring motions, monitoring conversations. I can imagine some sort of video based work metrics as well, where companies routinely overhire then fire workers below the 90th percentile (a la Amazon).
