This was 4 years ago and 81% of Americans surveyed for Pew's American Trends Panel indicated that they do not answer the phone for calls from numbers they don't know. On the one hand polling hasn't seemed completely broken the past few cycles but on the other hand how can it really still work idk

(Pew gets around this by using mailing addresses to send instructions for users to log online and answer, and gives devices and hotspots to people who don't have internet at home. Why I tend to trust them way more than these telephone polls and random online surveys)

The problem with that is you are polling the very specific subset of weirdos who’s willing to go do that.

unrelated, its somewhat shocking to me the number of people that dont check their voicemail
