We need to see the Supreme Court’s disastrous rulings in the context of the Right’s larger project to uphold traditional hierarchies of race, wealth/class, gender, and religion - all part of the attempt to halt the drive towards egalitarian, multiracial, pluralistic democracy.
America can accept this Supreme Court as legitimate and its rulings as the final word - or it can have true democracy and a functioning state. But not both.   Wrote this a year ago - and things have only gotten worse: The Rogue Court vs Modern Democracy 1/ thomaszimmer.substack.com/p/the-rogue-...

Homeless people are criminals for not having homes but corporations just need to file a lawsuit to avoid regulations and people in power can do whatever they want in the name of ‘official’ government acts. There’s really nothing left for poor and middle-class people to do besides a revolution.

People can now file lawsuits against administrative decisions they don’t like too. This was the original reason for Chevron. Pesky environmentalists demanding stronger environmental protections.

People with money can file lawsuits. Who has more money to pay lawyers, Corporations or environmental groups? It’s all about money. Poor people’s neighborhoods will be destroyed. Justice is not blind. It’s fucking expensive.

Yes but recall that Chrevon came about because environmental groups filed suits. There are organizations that can do this. Donate to them.

But Chevron is now overturned. It means that every regulation can be challenged by a corporation and the judge who talks about nitrous oxide will now get to decide what the limits of nitrogen oxide are. Environmental groups could write all the amicus briefs they want but the judge gets to decide.

With the judge shopping conservatives are doing, corporations or lobbying groups find a friendly judge and make a case. Judge rules the regulation is bad. No regulation. It’s just litigation all the way down.
