UT's Dean of Students is hiring a "Coordinator of Demonstration and Emergency Response" for $58K. They will "Participate in campus demonstration response" and "exercise discretion and independent judgment regarding student problems, parental and faculty concerns." Just try to imagine the applicants.

$5K/month in Austin will get you, at best, a 1-bedroom studio in a mega-complex a 30-minute drive from campus. Not a lot of room to stretch out and enjoy your status as a junior Kriminalassistent to the Sicherheitspolizei.

On the other hand, it’s enough pay to afford a tent in a protest encampment.

Don’t worry, I’m sure the University of Austin can offer them generous grant funding and other forms of mutual aid 🙃

UCLA hired someone to do the same, but at level of Provost’s office.

That salary is ridiculous given the needed skill set. I love the whole “we completely screwed up and so let’s offload the hard work on someone else” energy.

I kind of feel like these jobs are ripe to be taken by activists who lay low until it's necessary.

I suspect when they hire, it will be someone they know.

For $58K? Not exactly looking for quality or expertise there, are they?

A Masters on Social Work, or . . . three years as a residence hall worker. Potato, potahto!
