My take: Using Berger & Luckmann we can helpfully synthesize poli sci results on affect polarization + partisan media/internet/social-media.

(also, i tend to talk too much re folks like Voegelin & Ricoeur)

maybe. anyway, i think Sam Francis did believe it. i have not read the new bk from J Ganz. but, the ghost of Francis must delighted by how things are going. at L is SF from 97, so relatively late take. his bk Revolution From the Middle is 97 too. bonus at R: T Fleming on OK City bombing in 95

i've had this same account description about Berger & Luckmann since 2016. i used B & L bc it is more well known than a Schutz ref, but to me B & L is basically Schutz. then Friedman et al just came along and did it. such a great effort here.

anyway, just weird that roof was unsecured, guy was seen but got shots off anyway, guy missed, target is standing there w no care. just weird.

not so persuasive to me. so i am in the might-not-help-much corner. at least from this angle. tho maybe a fascistic GOP brings the exception? def i hope they are not the resultant sovereign. plz acclaim Biden in Nov plebiscite! otoh gives me an excuse to post this funny letter from Voegelin on CS.

K Minogue gets pretty entertaining here at the end Two Worlds of Liberalism: Religion and Politics in Hobbes, Locke and Mill by Eldon J. Eisenach Review by: Kenneth Minogue The Journal of Modern History, Vol. 55, No. 2 (Jun., 1983), pp. 303-304

Saturday Morning Voegelin reference this is from P Magalhães. i thought his article on nationalism in Schmitt & Voegelin was horribly bad re V. have not read enuf of this bk to evaluate it. but in intriguing footnote nonetheless. www.routledge.com/The-Legitima...

Holiday Wkend Voegelin 8 key pages in 4 shots from the long '43 letter to Schutz on Husserl's '36 Crisis essay. published in German by V himself as part of the autobiographical side of Anamnesis in '66. "the most significant achievement of epistemological critique in our time. Nevertheless ..."

in terms sometimes now customary due to later publications from Husserl's massive work, wtf is the "transcendental" relation bwtn ego & intersubjectivity? not a new mystery.

if one insists on an "essentially" collective and teleological account, you will have a lot of "structural" company. does it matter? if not, why not? i love the biting ref to Nietzsche.

at least Kant found "disquiet" about human stepping stones in his vision of progress. there is a famous bit from Benjamin one could throw in here. btw, anybody have the preface to Gierke's 3rd ed of his Althusius bk (1913)? i have never been able to find it.

and the end of this series. the experiential reading of Descartes and the contrast w Husserl seems totally right to me. anyway,
