So tonight is the night the toddler decided to put rice up their nose @edidin.bsky.social

Every time they do this it’s rice with curry and it’s not the hottest curry in the world but it’s still curry.

My toddler put a googly eye in her nose. Only once, because it hurt a lot.

Oh no! So far we have had rice twice and spanakopita once and neither of them appear to have hurt enough to deter them.

Dave Barry had a parenting book with an explanation that children’s mouths don’t connect to their stomach for the first few years, so they have to spit everything out and absorb it through the skin. It would certainly explain a lot!

I wasn't there for the incident, it happened in daycare, but I heard about it from the teacher first and the kiddo made a point of telling me how much it hurt and she cried. 🥺 I wish I had a suggestion to offer!

Haha no worries so far it hasn’t been catastrophic, we’re just puzzled that they keep putting spicy rice in their nose

“do you want a rice plant to grow out your nose?” will either stop it or magnify the issue x100
