Great first issue by the new X Team! After all the insanity of Krakoa, we got a laid back, simmering relaunch with a exciting and dynamic X-Men roster. Throw some mysterious new villains in there and you got me excited! Looking forward to more. #XSpoilers
The biggest problem with X-Men vs Avengers debates is trying to think of fun things for the rest of the X-Men to do while Kate Pryde is murdering all the Avengers
I wanted a Superman suit that looked like an actual garment that a person could put on their body. This is, that but I feel like I got kind of monkey’s pawed here. Not worried about the movie though. Live action superhero suits are just bad these days. Just have to live with it
Something I love about X-Men ‘97 is how it’s the type of show where Vulcan could just be a quick visual cameo that we never see again or he could somehow become the focal point of a 3 episode story arc #XSpoilers
This Roy Thomas/Wolverine stuff has me stumped. It sounds like everything that everyone is saying is true but it also sounds like Wolverine wouldn’t exist if not for Roy Thomas. This might not entitle him to money but it’s my understanding that creators are rarely compensated anyway
I loved X-Men ‘97! My only complaint is that after Storm’s absolutely show-stopping moment of whipping sentinel ass, they beat the mastermold by Wolverine scratching it with his claws #XSpoilers
I like MacKay a lot but I don’t love the idea of Avengers and X-Men being written by the same person. It’s like the football coach running the drama club. We’ll see what happens though #XSpoilers
The Krakoa era will end as arguably the best 5 year stretch in X-Men history (arguably). I’m not expecting anyone to compete with that! What comes next will be its own thing and I’m real excited to see what this new crew comes up with #XSpoilers
@kellythompson.bsky.social ‘s Birds of Prey is one of DC’s best books right now. Top 5, easily. The first arc was magnificent but if the end of the new issue is any indication, it’s only going to get better and I’m quite stoked on it
It might be unpopular but I have generally been enjoying Amazing Spider-Man for quite a while. Even I have to admit though that it’s refreshing to read Hickman and Checchetto’s Ultimate Spider-Man and see a version of Peter who is capable of tying his own shoes.
My only contribution to the UK food discourse is that if you want to understand Britain you should be aware that we invented a condiment featuring a delicate, tangy, sweetly sharp blend of tomatoes, molasses, dates, apples, tamarind, allspice, vinegar and raisins and gave it the name “brown sauce”
It’s shocking how many great comics have come out the past few years but Human Target might be the very best. It takes full advantage of the medium and has everything you could want in a modern comic. Such a pleasure to reread in paperback form. Great job @tomking.bsky.social and Greg Smallwood!
New Flash issue is fantastic! A Flash story with strange unsettling things lurking in the shadows. Also manages to directly continue the preceding story while creating a fresh jumping on point for new readers. It’s Flash sci-fi but a little scarier. Great job @sispurrier.bsky.social & Mike Deodato!
It’s a @kellythompson.bsky.social kind of NCBD! I finally get to find out what Hazmat did to them Broods. Then, it’s Birds of Prey time! I’ve been excited about this for months. It’s so rare to get a comic that I know I’m going to love before I even open it. 🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜
I just binge-read the whole Nailbiter Compendium by @joshuawilliamson.bsky.social@mikeshenderson.bsky.social . What a wild story! I knew nothing about it but got it based on the strength of Williamson’s other work. I couldn’t put it down! Very gory and personal with some genuine scares. Solid A
Saw Blue Beetle last night! Overall it was pretty good. Suffered a little from “stock dialogue” and 1 dimensional villain but it was funny, genuinely heartfelt and had some strong FX work compared to some recent superhero stuff. Hope we see more of Xolo!
These Knight Terrors tie-ins could easily be forgettable, throw-away parts of a larger story. You get a great writer like @alexpaknadel.bsky.social though, and you end up with a magnificent little two issue story that really breaks down a character’s pathology. Great job, man!
