Thanks for this!
I will never understand how 'Bitter Sweet Symphony' has retained that kind of reputation for a quarter of a century.
Also thanks for the prompt: Sunday Bloody Sunday should not be eligible because it wasn't released as a single in Ireland.
I have added that to the rules doc.
On the unseeded songs: Creep, One and Stayin' Alive were definitely in the 500. 'One' doesn't miss the 250 seeds by much.
Prince is still a very sore point for me: he only had three songs in the entire 500 and e.g. 'Purple Rain' wasn't picked once!
(I really don't think U50 is much of a guide😃)
#21 is compliant due to Slash. Technically #42 is too. Clemons is on the record but has a small role on this song with only percussion duties. I count E street as compliant when he is showcased like on Born To Run
It's credited to 'Bruce Springsteen' - credits determine compliance, as stated in the rules.
(the only leeway is on house/dance records with uncredited but obviously female or non-white vocalists)
In all honesty, I tend to think that awareness almost guarantees compliance, and erred on the side of generosity when checking before (e.g. Queen are compliant due to Freddie's ancestry).
A < 1% failure rate in #Let5D0It suggests people only blow it through ignorance.
