Bernie or any of them could literally handpick their successor and just advise them and still carry weight as an emeritus. But nobody wants to be an Elder in our society. Because it says if you're not working you're useless and practically dead
So true. And that generation really believes that they're the only ones competent and capable enough to do the work. They've been telling Gen X and everyone behind us for decades that we're just not good enough and their jobs are too important to allow us to to take over.

Like if you have to be old enough to run you should 100% be too old to run. What the fuck?!
And yes exactly! Mentor the next generation. Support them with a new elected official to walk the path you paved
My position on voting is that if we have a lower age limit (eg. 18) then there should be an upper age limit as well (avg adult life span in the country - 18).
As it is we have a cohort of people with no say, and a cohort of people who won't be around to see the long term effects of their votes.
this is honestly why I'm lukewarm on Bernie. he's done amazing work! I agree with his goals and ideas! but it also often feels like he prioritizes his own success over his movement's future. and I think he genuinely feels he's best for the job, but he needs to also trust others to take the baton
