So. Hulu sent out a press release today saying they now have, in honor of the BRATS documentary, “all nine Brat Pack films.” I would like to tell you what films are on this list. The first is ST. ELMO’S FIRE, which I am happy to say counts. But then: buckle up, buttercup.
couldn’t decide if it was a movie about McCarthy’s cringe midlife identity crisis or a movie about the nature of Hollywood fame in the 80s. didn’t really succeed as either.
I’ve recently done a lot of what he did — reconnect with former colleagues about how THEY stay happy / sane decades into a career in the arts — but I don’t film it because that particular angst is a niche thing.
However I can’t relate to McCarty’s film cuz his peers are all rich famous people.
If anyone happens to be going through that particular flavor of midlife crisis and wants a film which to relate, Chris Wicha’s documentary FLIPSIDE is a much more interesting take.
