MPLS/ St. Paul locals: can anyone give recs for rental companies or private owners that aren’t bullshit slumlords? Trying to help a friend out and I am not as familiar with the current rental market cuz it’s been a while since I’ve moved. Pic for visibility.
Of the companies I've rented with, I liked Olympus Properties and Kleinman Realty the best, and At Home Properties is fairly good too. I do not recommend the private landlord Steven Davis for reasons I can DM about, unless he's not renting properties anymore
my current landlord is actually pretty responsive to issues i've had and i don't hate them??? they are called powell property management but it's actually just a guy and his son in law
I'm a very bad person to ask, because I generally only hear about landlords if they're bad. No one calls me to be like "My property manager is great! Goodbye!"
That said, I have friends who were happy with their experiences with Horning. They have lots of fairly affordable stuff in Uptown. If they see Housing Hub, Mpls Apartments, or Level 10, run screaming.
I'm renting with BZ Properties, they're a husband and wife team, and have been pretty good so far. They only have a handful of properties anyway

I honestly have never heard of anyone referring to him as anything but "Frank." The listing will tell you to contact Frank. He owns small properties all over the cities and will do ANYTHING to screw over renters and contractors. He's been at it for 20+ years now.
I don't know the name of the company but there's a small one that owns buildings on the south side of larpenteur just east of Dale. (There are several complexes with different owners) and when I was there they were tolerable compared to the slumlord I have now. Was years ago though
Steven Scott was good til lease renewal, ok while month to month, then subpar once I gave notice. Maintenance staff was excellent, no major issues with the unit while there. I would prefer not to rent from them again, but they’re far from the worst.
