A problem with people who know too much about politics is they don't really think voters are real.
Kind of like how physicists don't really think atoms are real.
To exaggerate a bit, physicists and chemists both study the physical world, but physicists care about /forces/ and chemists care about /stuff/ (molecules) and that difference in perspective creates an odd deformation professionelle in perceiving the world.
So a chemist and a physicist can end up screaming at each other in bewildered confusion while describing the same thing believing in the same scientific principles.
It's actually pretty funny.
Anyway, politics people tend to think a lot about structure and trends and sociological forces.
