Materialist Gnostic: I would like less "what do the polls say" coverage and more "what do the candidates want to do" coverage. For a public that hated inflation, Trump calling for universal 10% tarrifs should be the biggest story in the world.

I appreciate the snark here bc it gets to a deeper problem w political discourse (both from avg ppl & reporters) in that its become almost solely focused around polling. If you look at fundamentals, spending, &, importantly, campaign/party infrastructure, Trump is actually in a v dicey position.

You see, that would require actual work and reporting. So much easier to just rush out some half assed copy that says “well the latest polls say X!”
