Oof...massive potential data breach at FlightAware, including user ID, password, and email address. And potentially lots more data. #AvGeek

PDX maybe peaked at that level for a couple months in 2018/2019, but never held it consistently. Here's the last 20 years of data for non-stops to markets outside Alaska from Cirium.

Virgin Australia will take eight E190-E2 jets from October 2025. The planes will be based in Perth to replace the Fokker 100s currently operating for Virgin Australia Regional Airlines (VARA)'s most charter ops. #AvGeek

A headline that demands more context: "U.S. Cargo and Passenger Airlines Gained 200,196 Jobs in June 2024" Reality: FedEx reclassified its operations and added 198,388 employeess to its DOT reporting number. So, in reality, only 1,808 added by the industry. #AvGeek

JetBlue has a few billion in refinancing on the table. The company announced $1.5bn in debt maturing in 2031, $1.25bn in loans (2029), and private offering of $400mm in debt (2029). Mostly guaranteed by the loyalty program. Seems a high valuation for TrueBlue. 🤔 #PaxEx

S&P is not impressed, downgrading JetBlue's debt rating on the news.

A pair of satellites launching this evening from Vandenberg. Included in the is the Inmarsat GX 10a/10b payloads (now Viasat), that will provide inflight internet for polar routes. The program was announced nearly five years ago: paxex.aero/inmarsat-gx-.... #PaxEx

And with *MASSIVE* thanks to friends and friends of friends, a photo of the new Gilat (Stellar Blu) terminal atop N611SK. This is the first RJ to be fitted with the new Intelsat multi-orbit #IFEC solution. #PaxEx
The first plane plane purposefully fitted for multi-orbit inflight internet service is back in service. The CRJ-700, operated by SkyWest for American Eagle, has completed its installation program and is carrying passengers once again. #PaxEx

Booked my hotel for a conference in October. Chose 54k points versus the $2120 cash rate. Calling that a massive win.

🤷 openflights.org/user/sbm12 I stopped saving the paper BPs a long time ago, but I probably have most of the past 10-15 years of confirmation emails. Also, of course the asshat is lying.
do people really save the records of flights they took like are there actual documents u get

Guidance from the SoS this cycle (issued just this week) includes "encouragement" - but not a requirement AFAICT - of having the folders again, for precisely that reason. .

Full letter from Boeing's new CEO Kelly Ortberg to all employees this morning. And a very interesting choice of the word "we" in the middle of it. #AvGeek

JetBlue has now named the objecting countries: Serbia and Italy will not approve JetBlue's request to codeshare on Air Serbia flights between those two countries, connecting to the carrier's JFK service. #AvGeek

Yeah...I paid directly on the machine at this one.

An update will be published in the Federal Register soon regarding the DOT's new refund rules, previously announced in April 2024. An interesting bit (that maybe was there then, but I'm just noticing today) requires third parties to separate out their fees (which might be nonrefundable). #PaxEx

Anyone good at snake identification? Maybe a half inch diameter, but very long. Pale yellow and brown/black, striped down the length.

Per a LinkedIn post, Breeze President Tom Doxey is stepping down. I always enjoyed my conversations with him about the company's launch, growth, and evolution. #avgeek

Transport Canada just issued and Emergency AD for the A220 family of planes due to discovery of a missing pin in a main landing gear. It requires a detailved visual inspection within 24 flight cycles. 👀 #AvGeek

The DOT is revising how the 777X will be certified for loss-of-power operations. Among other things, it will require sufficient redundancy to maintain control of flight for the maximum certified diversion time, not just 5 minutes, and in IMC conditions, not just VFR. #AvGeek $BA

Driving across NH yesterday introduced me to a bunch of new candidates for various elected positions across the state. Most interesting was this AI-ish, Anime-ish cartoon-ish poster for an Executive Council candidate. In front of the US Capitol, not the NH State House. #nhpoli

Drove from Dover, NH to Chichester, NH today, about 40 minutes through mostly small towns. Saw a ton of signs for local and state elections, many of them from R candidates. Only two properties with Trump flags (old, tattered) and one with signs, though.

"Be loved. Be profitable." Not quite the same appeal as "Bringing humanity back to air travel," but worth a try, I suppose.

Already closed (red) and soon-to-be closed (cyan) stations for JetBlue for 2024. #AvGeek

Re XLR deferrals and what it means for TATL, Joanna says TATL is staying, but it is definitely seasonal demand.

Here's JBLU's updated fleet plan from the 2024 Q2 10-Q. A220s continue to deliver. One more A321neo this year and four in 2025. Then a three year pause. #AvGeek

Lot of talk about technology to reduce costs and improve PaxEx. Those are hard to nail down on the balance sheet. Also will defer significant new aircraft expense. To that end, only 4 new A321neo in 2025 and none in 2026-2028. Table showing previous fleet plans from Jan 2024 and Sept 2023 below.

Another interesting - and pretty well targeted - airline email. I hate abandoned cart emails from airlines, mostly because I search a lot of stuff I'm never going to fly. But I booked a one way the other day and JetBlue followed up to see if I needed the return. 🤔 #PaxEx
