to defend stupid Americans… cooking rice on an electric coil burner is not straightforward. adjusting heat isn’t instantaneous. it’s way easier on gas or induction.
when I had electric I had a post it on my fridge with the instructions for rice e.g. “start on 7; turn to 2 just before boil”
There aren't a lot of things I struggle to cook, but rice is one of them. The issue I have is that I tend to rely on sight/feel to tell if something's done, and you can't really do that with rice without affecting the cooking.
