I’m sorry to report that I have become one of those old guys who hates the noise of fireworks. I can’t say it’s because of my dog, because I don’t have one. I say let’s bring on the age of drone light shows instead.
It just makes sense.
Of course, this would be a change to a familiar tradition, and so there would be political capital to be made by resisting it. So, look for political fights over drone light shows in the near future.
Note that drone light shows are potentially much cheaper than fireworks shows. St Paul canceled its annual fireworks show a few years ago because it couldn’t justify spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on it every year.
You can reuse drones, but you can’t reuse fireworks.
