A fairly balanced article on the 'long tail' of eugenics in Australia. Surprisingly, quotes me extensively. Let's hope it generates more historical analysis of the recursions of eugenics postWW2. Although patterns vary, the recurrent appeal needs critical study - surely a long tale! #STS #histSTM

For me, the issue also makes visible the moral quandaries of the historian of recent or contemporary science. I've known Gus Nossal, Ken Smith (the director of WEHI) and Ross Jones, the author of the chapter that provoked the controversy, for 40+ years. I'm fond of them all. What to say then?

Interesting and brave so well done for highlighting this. But is there any such thing as ‘cautious and moderate’ views on eugenics…? 🤷🏻
