They do exist, look Broccoflower in Wikipedia. There's two types of them, one is a green cauliflower but the other is called Romanesco broccoli and it's really crazy because it's composed of pointy fractals, a really amazing structure.
It would have to be a very old version of broccoli which had barely edible stems, dare I say, woody?
