I am having a terrible hyperfocus about buying a vacuum. All of the reviews contradict each other. I want a stick vacuum because we don’t really have a place to store a canister, but all the vacuum nerds say they are best. Anyone have a stick vacuum you love? We’ve got like 75% concrete & rugs.

We had a Shark upright that only lasted like two years (and we don’t vacuum that often) and I’m so confused about Dysons, people either hate them or say they are the best.

I didn't like my v8 animal stick vacuum but I love the v15 detect. The laser light is amazing & the attachments have improved a lot in the past 4 years.

A few people convinced me to give Dyson another shot and I bought from Costco so I could return it easily just in case they were wrong. With a shedding dog, it's perfect. The suction can be set to adjust automatically.

I’ve been looking at the v15 detect because it’s like $250 off at Best Buy right now with 10 attachments.

Highly recommend. The attachments are so well designed compared to how they were in 2020 when I bought my old Dyson. It doesn't feel heavy, which is nice, but I can also say that might mean it feels cheap.

The old one didn't work well on my rugs.

Our Dyson V8 pet has been going 5 years, never gives me trouble, easy to clean and get aftermarket replacement parts.

I have the cheapest Dyson. It is 10 years old and totally fine. At one point I replaced the battery w a knock-off and it is also totally fine.

Mine is so low-end they don't even make it anymore. And 100% adequate.

We have a Dyson 11 that picks up so much dirt that we feel like we were living in filth for decades before getting it. Its filter system is a bit high maintenance (lots of cleaning clogged filters) but it works very well. It is also $$$$

Cane here to recommend Shark, secondhand from my MIL who used them when she was a cleaner. They’re amazing for taking up pet hair, but perhaps not amazing in general.
Avatar
I have to have cleaning people - pick a joint there's a permanent injury - and they all agree Dysons are overpriced and prone to breaking down.

I like the Dyson, and when it dies you can buy a $40 replacement battery on Amazon. I've done it at home and at work. Lasted about 7 or 8 years, and I live with an extremely fluffy Samoyed and two small children.

Are you loyal to any tool brands with rechargeable batteries like Milwaukee, Ryobi, Makita, etc? If you already own rechargeable batteries for any of those, you could also get a cordless stick vacuums in those brands
Avatar
If within budget, Miele, but get a low end one without all the bells and whistles. It's wonderfully quiet.
Avatar
I’m confused about the Triflex. Some people say it’s amazing, some people say avoid at all cost. I wish I could get a Miele canister but I just know I won’t use it often if I have to haul it in and out of the storage space.

My house doesn’t have any hall closets for some godforesaken reason.

I bought the Shark HV301 Rocket Ultra-Light Corded Bagless, but that is because I have shoulder injuries. Works well on a short napped rug in between cleaning people sessions. I think cordless would be easier to empty, but the corded version has some oomph.

My wife has owned a shark vacuum for at least a decade and she really likes it

This is the model I got on Amazon last year. I love it. I have central vac in most of my house, but this is great for small carpeted areas and stairs.
Avatar
Central vac is so cool! I’m jealous.
