There's never a good time to lose a pet, but losing one a month before the start of 6 months of snuggle temperatures feels especially sucky. The indignity of having to wear socks to bed because a cat no longer sleeps on my feet.

Bird club is nice because you can be very dumb, but a twentysomething gutterpunk or fiftysomething wine mom will fill you in on dowitchers and pipits.
