As an illustrator, your drawing speaks to me from the heart and perfectly sums up the fact that AI - especially in the area of image generation - always produces "something", but often it can't be used for anything.
For example something like this? (autsch…) - This fabulous “art piece” has bern part of a recent presentation at a AI Workshop. I’ve taken part, my eyes (& brain) constantly hurting… 😖
Ich kann nicht anders als die Technologie und ihr Potential zu lieben. Auch wenn KI-Bildgeneration im Moment noch viele ungelöste Probleme hat: Rechtlich, moralisch, energietechnisch.
Und ich frag mich grad: Hat schon jemand den CO2-Abdruck eines KI-Bildes ausgerechnet, bei 50-100 verworfenen Ausschuss-Versionen? (Mir ist bewusst, eine Fotoshooting ist auch nicht ohne…).

Da ich KI-Bildgeneratoren lokal auf meinem Rechner laufen lassen kann (oder auf meinem Handy), denke ich, dass der CO2-Abdruck eines Bildes überschaubar ist - sogar mit 1000 Ausschüssen.
Stromfresser ist das Training und die Herstellung all der nötigen Grafikkarten.
so viele kitschige Bilder auf 1x angeschaut wie in diesem KI Workshop. “Bad taste” wird glaub nicht besser mit KI, sondern bald finden alle, sie seien echt geniale KI-Artists, äh Künstler, äh Designer usw… Kitsch wird grausam explodieren… Ok, ich male etwas schwarz. …
This is a great comic, it could be even greater by being accessible to those with vision issues by using Alt text. Hope you'll consider it in the future!
😀 It does feel like that to work with GPT sometimes. But I also feel parental instinct, almost. AI is just a baby, and it's our collective baby. It's endearing to watch it succeed, it's endearing to watch it fail. And it's growing up fast.
That's not a baby it just look like one. The creature has taken this form to fool you. We must bind it in these chains and drive this dagger deep in to its chest
Which part? You do realize what artificial neural networks are based on, right? On our neural networks. The fact it ended up working by imitating the structure at scale was as surprising for the inventors as it was for the rest of the world. That's it. There's no mystery what you are.
