yes I remember my dad calling out the cats' names before getting to the name of the kid he wanted to yell atWe knew how much trouble we were in as kids based on how many of our brothers our mother had to cycle through before getting to our name We were never mixed up with the dog, but I would have assumed I was dead if she came before me on the list My parents and grandparents all did this (grandparents would go through a bunch of cousins too.)
