House is right. It is more orange. If it does look like it might be more wine-colored, look for pinkish wing bars. I'm convinced that's the fastest way to identification.

Agreed, here a good view of a different bird but the wing bars are white which as you say is a good way of ID'ing the House vs the Purple.

I’ve got tons of purple finches this year and I agree, house finch.

Looks like a house finch to me! We get them here occasionally. I'm a finch fan.
