oh, that is ABSOLUTELY true, no doubt. but thinking back on all the accounts i've read of people fleeing from this kind of thing (and people I've met who have), if your overall goal is escaping death, you're ultimately just trying to out-run the nearest death squad

anyway i do think that people should really be looking more at mexico for this kind of thing when it comes down to it

Anyone reading this know what the situation has been like there lately for trans people? I’ve been assuming for the last 2 years at least that *any* GOP president in ‘24 means I need to get my kid out of the country ASAP. Her passport just came in the mail & I just wanna scream thinking about this.

at the moment, yes, actually - not a bad place for trans and queer people at all, especially in the cities, and trans healthcare is legalized.
