so like, listen to Operator, Operator and Smokey Mountain Rain then listen to anything by George Strait in 1987, it became more like “country light rock” and the earlier glitz of country was abandoned for a more “down home” suburban working class aesthetic
The intersection of US pop and country music from 1978 to about 1984 is filled with some good gems

I know country music is probably looked down on here but I approach music as a lover not a hater and I find all genres fascinating because any music existing is rad and magical

I love this and agree, every genre has beautiful and interesting music

my previous account had like 1700 followers and when I’d talk about country music I’d get a lot of mutuals in my mentions saying they hated country music

I don’t know that I unabashedly hate the entire genre but it’s pretty gross in its 2024 form to me

I’ll pull up a contemporary country playlist on the music apps every few months to see what’s up, there are a few good artists out there but a lot of it is small town nostalgic racist glurge

Like I don’t know enough about Chris Stapleton to know if he sucks as a human being or not but his music is pretty great.
