You're not wrong. Any perceived 'win' is a win to them. No matter how petty, it goes to the whole 'sticking it to someone else' or 'defending my false pride' perspectives.

So the problem isn't just a bunch of nuts who act like a gang who "owns" the streets because they say so. It's also a media that loves to play that stirring it up game because the editor/news director thinks it's all entertainment.
