I do not understand why Romeo is like The Romantic Shakespeare Dude when there are an ABUNDANCE of absolute simps monologuing about how they'll die if they can't marry the woman they love and who also make less bad decisions. They're not *good* decisions but lower body counts, absolutely.

It's pretty hard to read Romeo as anything other than a psychopath. From the very first scene! "Hey Romeo, how's your girlfriend?" "Fuck her, I just met this 13-year-old, I want to marry her immediately." Of course, the entire tragedy is the priest's fault for replying "is tomorrow good for you?"

We gotta give teenagers the idiot simps in COMEDIES and set a better example than this, cross dressing to solve problems is way better than Romeo's idiot "solutions"

currently wracking my brain trying to think of any r&j character who makes even one good decision for the entire length of the play

Rosaline. By never appearing on stage, she shows the best judgment by clearly nope-ing out of the whole situation right at the start.

I like to imagine that we actually see her during the initial party scene, but when Romeo enters she can feel his rancid fuckboi vibes & exits stage left forever.
