I do not understand why Romeo is like The Romantic Shakespeare Dude when there are an ABUNDANCE of absolute simps monologuing about how they'll die if they can't marry the woman they love and who also make less bad decisions. They're not *good* decisions but lower body counts, absolutely.

benedick will straight up kill his best friend for beatrice!!

The Two Gentlemen of Verona is basically 2 dudes who cannot help but be insane about being in love it's AMAZING

...One of them tries to force himself on a woman. And then the other says "she forgives you."

Just thinking about when I was maybe 3 weeks postpartum & still completely not my normal self & watching the Branagh Much Ado with James and we kept looking at each other like “is this real? this can’t be real”

It's pretty hard to read Romeo as anything other than a psychopath. From the very first scene! "Hey Romeo, how's your girlfriend?" "Fuck her, I just met this 13-year-old, I want to marry her immediately." Of course, the entire tragedy is the priest's fault for replying "is tomorrow good for you?"

We gotta give teenagers the idiot simps in COMEDIES and set a better example than this, cross dressing to solve problems is way better than Romeo's idiot "solutions"

currently wracking my brain trying to think of any r&j character who makes even one good decision for the entire length of the play

Rosaline. By never appearing on stage, she shows the best judgment by clearly nope-ing out of the whole situation right at the start.

I like to imagine that we actually see her during the initial party scene, but when Romeo enters she can feel his rancid fuckboi vibes & exits stage left forever.

I've thought a lot about who makes the worst decisions, and I think it's the priest who marries them!

She's instrumental in facilitating the secret wedding, she absolutely bears part of the blame!

Much Ado About Nothing (1993) | Official Trailer | MGM Studioswww.youtube.com In this Shakespearean farce, Hero (Kate Beckinsale) and her groom-to-be, Claudio (Robert Sean Leonard), team up with Claudio's commanding officer, Don Pedro (Denzel Washington), the week before their wedding to hatch a matchmaking scheme. Their targets are sharp-witted duo Benedick (Kenneth Branagh) and Beatrice (Emma Thompson) -- a tough task indeed, considering their corresponding distaste for love and each other.
