corporations may be considered 'people', but they are not human. they are a distillation/amalgamation of a lot of bad human traits, none of the good ones like compassion.
They don't have emotions. They are dead things.
AI is a corporate 'child'. A machine that imitates humans, built to trick/replace them.

I'm not sure I've "forsaken" them so much as lived out a solo timeline without family around me, to an age where making new friends IRL gets harder.
Mind you I don't converse with bots but I do talk with invisible friends: prayer, invocation, journaling, just talkin' to myself like a crazy person.
They are working on 'better' NPCs in games, and I saw some development proposals to 'capture' loved one's personality by studying all their messages and text and make them available to family/friends after they have passed.
This tech already works as deepfakes.
