Politics is not just about culture, but culture is important. When the political culture of one party has come to be defined by an apocalyptic imaginary in which "we won't even have a country anymore" if a centrist-incrementalist like Biden gets re-elected, it's a sign of a deep disorder.

US media is puzzled that voters watched the debate and read their negative coverage of it and didn't broadly abandon a democrat for a fascist. This is a sign of a deep disorder in our political and news media

The complete capture of the media by the right has been something to behold. Seeing them paint the NYT as a "dying liberal paper" while said paper uncritically publishes hard right op-eds filled with lies has been extraordinary.

The electorate have experienced 4 years of both men as president; if someone hasn’t made up their mind about both at this point in life, they’re probably not old enough to vote

The only possibility that's worse is all these people actually DO know and understand... But this is more fun.

My opinion, and it's mine, is that anyone advocating Biden be replaced after this one debate without discussing the entirety of his time in office is either not arguing in good faith or is in danger of being a useful idiot.

Nobody believed them when they said Biden was sharp and youthful, nobody cares when they say Biden is too old. People hate the political media so much that them attacking Biden might have endeared him to many voters.

The choice is an unnecessary root canal (Biden) or lobotomy and random amputations (Trump)... a tough choice...
