My post related to A/I & comm refs kinda made me want to write a separate thread about the various harmful effects of genA/I, especially when it comes to problematic representations it is prone to produce. But I'm not sure if I'm ready to read comments saying I'm a simpleton selling horse carriages

I'm starting to get comments on Twitter on this thread. Comments like "But why is using genA/I so bad/harmful?" It's plagiarism and based on exploitation. The tech also consumes massive amounts of energy & is environmentally destructive. It also accelerates the spread of dangerous disinformation.

If you commission art, please refrain from using genAI to generate ref images. Because at the end of the day, any usage of exploitative AI directly supports the plagiaristic AI companies and their exploitation/theft of creative labor. There are so many ethical options you can use to create refs.

Recently, someone said that my style would be perfect for tattoos. Fun fact, years ago when I still wasn't very seriously pursuing a career as an artist, I thought about trying to become a tattoo artist. Maybe I should embrace this stylistic influence instead of fighting it and see what comes out

I decided to give Tumblr another chance some months ago. But to this day I've kinda treated it like my gremlin-mode hideout cave where I can shitpost along with my art. But now that my audience there has been growing, I'm starting to feel like maybe I should curate it a bit more haha

I feel like I've done everything I can, but it seems like summer is just totally silent for me work-wise. This is the second summer in a row but it still caught me off-guard. I certainly hope that things will eventually pick up again like they did last year.
