Honest question: Do political scientists who propose a Harris nomination do so based on principles, or are there data I am unaware of that suggest she is the Democrat with the highest chance of winning against Trump?

As of May, Biden Harris had raised $231 million and built a massive campaign structure. If he quit the race, those assets could not be shifted to anybody other than Harris. That's the ball game that almost none of the Biden doomers care to discuss.
