New open access article on which faculty members get counteroffers from Damani White-Lewis and colleagues link.springer.com/article/10.1...

I am so glad someone studied this!!

One of those, we all probably knew the findings a priori but here's the numbers!

Fantastic, thank you - have passed it off to my dept-chair husband, who is doing a job offer today.

just skimmed, does it say who is likely to accept a counteroffer if given one? Cause I have a hypothesis on that 😂

Lols it does not but I bet there are some real "keep that lousy counter" differences

Ugh. Also, access to COACHE data. Ugh.

You know, I honestly don't know how you get access to COACHE. I was texting with Damani earlier today, I'll have to ask.

I’d *kill* for that kind of data. Have been thinking on how to approximate successful counters with public salary data but it is so hard…

COACHE is very open to working with researchers. It’s not open access data but i think all you need to do is contact them and explain your project.

That sounds terrific. Thanks a million!

Hi Juan Pablo, I was the E.D./P.I. at COACHE for a spell. The Faculty Job Satisfaction Survey is a massive analytical possibility w/institutionally-verified demographic + professional vars. The data request process isn't for the faint of heart, but worthwhile: coache.gse.harvard.edu/application-...

There is some slightly more useful salary data in CUPA-HR than in the fully public sources. CUPA-HR is not public or open to individuals but if your institution has a membership they can add you to it for no additional cost, though that can require some persuading.

So many people committed evil in that administration then slunk back to their holes.

Thank you for publishing open access!

It's not my paper but I'll let the authors know of your thanks
