It's not rocket science, or even politics, it's basic math Basic income is proven to reduce the costs of healthcare and crime When people have their basic needs met they get the breathing room they need to become the best version of themselves We need to take care of everyone

It's nuts, let's try making sure everyone has their basic needs met instead, maybe? Then they won't have to do crimes in the first place and we'll be able to cut police and prison services and save billions, all while helping people have a better life 🤷‍♀️

Why do we celebrate entrepreneurs for chasing passive income but condemn the idea of universal basic passive income as making people lazy? Both strategies aim for financial security without daily work. Let's normalize a financial floor for everyone, not just the investment-savvy with enough capital.

Universal basic income is close to being a reality in one statet.co A proposed measure to create a universal basic income program in Oregon is likely to reach the ballot in November.

Our own Scott Santens is on fire with these analogies! We’ve got to break the narratives of UBI causing dependency. Basic income from an economists standpoint, the more income people have creates labor flexibility. It gives people the ability to choose better employment, shift jobs, re educate etc

We can't have parachutes, pilots will just fly recklessly. We can't have seat belts; they'll just cause more car accidents. We can't water the plants, they'll just grow dependent on water. We can't have basic income, people will just stop working. ALL OF THESE CLAIMS ARE STUPID

Universal basic income could allow people like me who are just born mentally ill through no fault of our own, to be able to house and feed ourselves without literally making our mental health worse with financial anxiety or trying to shove ourselves back into the employment machine we don't fit into

Wow, what a great analogy for UBI as a safety net! Reality is basic income creates labor flexibility, the ability for labor to move around in the economy. It makes labor more secure knowing there is a net when we’re walking the tightrope.

Believing the myth that Universal Basic Income will lead many of us to quit our jobs is like believing a safety net encourages high-wire performers to fall purposely. UBI doesn't take away the incentive to work; it's about providing a foundation from which we can all aim higher.

I saw a really great line about productivity the other day. “I want to work. I don’t want to have a job. I don’t want my basic needs tied to constantly grinding away to afford them.” That is the need for UBI right there. I want to work, I want to create and bring joy - without it destroying me.

So, there are the obvious and important ways UBI would lead to a more just society, but also, it would lead to a second Renaissance. I know a lot of great artists doing subsistence work instead of art. UBI would free them all to follow their calling and enrich us all with their art!

Wages tend to be sticky(slow to change/increase). However with universal basic income labor becomes flexible, people can move around, find more suitable employment AND demand high wages. Therefore loosening those sticky wages. #UBI #UniversalBasicIncome
