Every country song is made by a guy with 2 first names and those names are either Luke or Bryan with a Y, never an I

Monday’s spin: The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds. My dad’s (or possibly mom’s) old copy. Still has the shrink wrap on part of it, along with a price tag of $1.69. Take a look on Amazon for what it costs now, for a laugh. (It’s the Mono version, sounds great since they took exceptionally good care of it.)
Thursday spin: Beastie Boys’ Hello Nasty. Is there anything I really need to say about this one? It’s one of the best hip hop albums ever. There you go.

So both he and his VP have basically no history of public service whatsoever. That tracks.

He is definitive proof that justice is a concept we actually have to fight for. It doesn’t occur naturally.

I consider myself a pretty lucky person in general. Life has worked out well for me and I try never to take that for granted. But I just can’t imagine being gifted everything I have, continually messing it up and not only failing upwards, but having an entire cult & system actively making it happen.

Wednesday spin: Bonobo’s Ten Tigers EP. Only 3 tracks, but they’re all great. Bonobo always delivers.

Easy to say “fasten your seatbelts” when you’re not the one getting run over by the car
the editor of the New York Times reacting to a potential Trump second term with “fasten your seatbelts” is so deeply vile i can’t wrap my mind around it. these people have detached themselves so completely from the things they cover that the rise of fascism becomes just something exciting to watch

Tuesday spin: Chemical Brothers’ Born in the Echoes. Wasn’t my favorite on release (definitely more of a Dig Your Own Hole or Further guy) but this is better than I remember it being, which is a welcome surprise.

I have reached the point where I want to make a movie more than I want to watch any of them. But I’m also crippled by the fact that everyone on earth would be harsher on my movie than I am on everything I watch

Monday spin: Zero 7’s When It Falls, a great rainy day record, whose vocals sound amazing on vinyl. I was lucky enough to get one of the copies signed by the band. I’m glad it’s this one since Morning Song, the final track is one of my favorites ever. The last 2 minutes is why I listen to music.

Friday spin: Massive Attack’s Blue Lines. Another early ‘90s classic. Definitely sounds like it was from the early ‘90s, but in a good way. One of those albums you own but don’t listen to very often, though.

This guy was such a G for telling his evil wizard cyborg boss that his religion is bullshit during a work meeting.

Wednesday spin: A Tribe Called Quest’s People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm. A solid Tribe album. They don’t really come into their own until the next couple albums, but this still has some classics on it.

The one thing really intelligent people and really stupid people have in common is they both ask a whole lot of questions.

Friday spin: Massive Attack’s Mezzanine, not just a top 10 of the ‘90s, but a top 10 all-time. Atmosphere for miles.

Thursday spin: Beastie Boys’ Paul’s Boutique. My wife’s favorite of theirs, an absolute flop on release that eventually found its audience and classic status when people realized a hip hop collage (that wasn’t just another Licensed To Ill) is actually super cool.

Democracy didn’t really work that well or that often but I will still miss it

Wednesday spin: Bonobo’s Flashlight EP. It’s pretty much just a 12” single, but if you’re only gonna have one song per side at 45rpm, this is the song to do it with. The b-sides aren’t slouches either. Also, winner of coolest packaging so far with a die-cut outer sleeve. Really good stuff.

Tuesday spin: Deltron 3030, a hip hop classic from the distant future. Both Del and Dan the Automator are on another level here. Still haven’t really heard anything else that sounds like this.

Monday’s spin: DJ Shadow’s Endtroducing….. My favorite album of the ‘90s, and a top-5 all time for me. And yes, it sounds as good on vinyl as you’d expect.

Friday afternoon spin: Portishead’s Dummy, only one of the most creative, influential albums of all time. Heard it hundreds of times and I feel like I still find something new every time.

The absolutely wild thing is: This goes for ALL social aid. Just *giving people some fucking money,* literally going "OK, how much did you need?", cutting checks, and waving them out the door? COSTS LESS and HAS BETTER OUTCOMES than the current system's bureaucracy and means testing, EVERY TIME.
With alt-text because THIS IS LITERALLY EVERYONE’S EXPERIENCE & I FUCKING HATE IT. Being disabled is a godsdamn full time job battling different agencies all damn day. #NEISvoid

Thursday’s spin: Air’s Moon Safari, one of those weirdly forgotten ‘90s albums that remains really, really good. The opener, La Femme d’Argent alone garners it classic status.
