a big takeaway from all of the Biden drama is that huge swathes of the public — including reasonably engaged people — think that political parties are a small cabal of elites who select candidates by hand

in 2020 “Biden is too old” was a big narrative going into the first debate with Trump, but he performed well and shut the concerns down. Ever since then, concerns about his age have had a boy who cried wolf element to them, and i think that’s part of why so many people were caught off guard.

the modern American right has always been the sludge that Nixon left behind, so it makes sense that their courts would eventually exonerate him in some form or another

reflecting on the immunity decision a bit, what the Court seems to be saying is that every element of the executive branch is at the President’s disposal, no matter what he wants to use it for. his motives don’t matter. the office is a weapon to be wielded however he sees fit.

throughout the Trump immunity decision, the Court champions the idea of an unfettered, uninhibited President. the darkest part of the opinion isn’t that it paves the way for an authoritarian leader, it’s that it yearns for one

i really don't know what to think about the biden situation, but i have a few friends who are gung ho "biden needs to resign" types and it's funny to watch them all get hyped up and then immediately deflate when i say "so, kamala?"
