A national election does not have to be a painful 1.5-2 year process! the US election campaign should quite honestly not even have started yet!!
The problem is that while other places have enough flexibility we are literally not set up to do it

AND THERE ISN'T A WAY TO DO THAT PART OVER
Changing now means ignoring the voters' choice and letting the party elites do the deciding

Oh, I’m not saying we should do what’s in that ridiculous semafor piece.
What I’m saying is we should look at how we do the whole campaign/primary season. It’s way too long/expensive. Obvs for the future. There’s a lesson for us in what happening here and how it’s done in some places in Europe.
