Just shipped: Bluesky Direct Messages! - Blueskybsky.social You can now send direct messages (DMs) to people on Bluesky! Say hi to a friend, colleague, or a crush.

We also squeezed in some other features and fixes in this release: Now you can set who can reply to your posts more easily!

We also included a bug fix: you can now remove saved feeds that are failing to load.

Also included in this release: scrolling the feed should feel snappier on Android. Thanks to GitHub user zetavg for contributing the fix! 🙏

Sounds like you need to create a feed to talk ball. You can create a group and add who you want then only allow people in that group to see your feed. dM should always be one on one

Hi, wasn't sure where to raise it, but I was having a real hard time editing my profile earlier. Any time I clicked on the pop up it would disappear leaving me unable to make changes and click "Save". I'm using Opera GX. I managed it on my phone though.

I would rather go forward like pages instead of endless scrolling, it's unnerving and heavy. 🥲

Are DMs local to the BlueSky app? (My understanding is that they aren't part of the atProtocol?)

AFAIK, in the future they will be E2E and added to ATProto. For now it‘s centralised to fulfill a feature request.

Yep, E2E DMs are "on the horizon" but not currently scheduled to complete in 2024.

Pleaaaase add the ability via API posts to just have a link embed, rather than forcing us to upload an image. We can already do the embed via manual posts, so why not the API?
