Yes. It also has a more interesting story

Lady In The Lake was a mistake. It loses me right when it painstakingly tries to draw a line between a white Jewish housewife's struggle for autonomy and a Black woman's struggle for freedom in 1960s Baltimore. Becomes a mess from there.

There's a moment towards the end of Twisters when both Anthony Ramos and Glen Powell are slow-mo running to catch up with an aggressively mediocre Daisy Edgar-Jones with hearts in their eyes, and... I just had to laugh. This movie is so unserious.

The best thing about Twisters is its effects. Unlike the original film, I didn't care about a single character - and it's wild that the most interesting actors in it are gone very early in the movie. Says a lot about the talent Hollywood prioritizes.

I'm also very tired of Hollywood spewing our these basic AF reboots that have nothing to do with the original films. It's clearly just a nostalgia marketing tool to get people to see a lesser, newer movie. It's so empty.

I haven't watched most of Reservation Dogs, but my colleague reflects on his nomination here, too. But, as we say here, The Bear of it all calls a lot of things into question

In which the HuffPost Culture team chat in earnest about today's Emmy nominations. For one thing, the nominations suggest that there weren't enough quality dramatic series this past year. That's just not true. But they mostly star nonwhite people. www.huffpost.com/entry/emmy-n...

RIP to one of the realest, Shannen Doherty

Amid a slew of hagiographical celebrity documentaries right now, Faye, which examines the life and career of Faye Dunaway, is a pleasant surprise. An interesting portrait of a woman is at once off-putting, insightful, vulnerable, and sincere.

Longlegs isn’t all the way effective, story-wise. But I like that it is actually scary and that it seems to be scratching at difficult concepts. I think with a different lead, it could have been better.

Alicia Witt, on the other hand, is great. Best performance in the movie

Nelly opened for Janet Jackson tonight, and his entire set was 🔥

I wonder what Pretty Woman would have been had it maintained its dark reflection of '80s Hollywood. I wrote about its grimy opening scenes, how MaXXXine helps destigmatize its Reagan-era dread and give horror films and sleaze their rightful places alongside other art www.huffpost.com/entry/maxxxi...
This Blood-Soaked New Horror Film Masterfully Brings Back '80s Grimewww.huffpost.com Writer-director Ti West’s new film is a scrappy, gory reflection of '80s Hollywood — and a low-key nod to 'Pretty Woman.'

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F is... about what I expected it to be. Extremely unnecessary sequel that pales in comparison to the earlier movies. It's cool to see some of the original characters back, but it's pretty lifeless otherwise.

A Quiet Place: Day One is such a thrilling horror with great jump scares throughout. The first satisfying horror of its kind this year. Though, as a prequel, it doesn't offer much in the way of actually explaining what actually triggered this monster infestation or the world before.
