The fracking boom did that, largely by operating on private land where the President has relatively limited power to halt it. Policy helped continue the shift off coal, and has meant that US consumption didn't rise to match the increased extraction.

yeah, methane is much easier to use. They spray that crap everywhere and don't report their true emissions so it's all a load of bollocks. US largest gas exporter under Biden. Then they advocate for carbon capture because they want the CO2 to flush out old wells for more methane extraction.
