SAME. A vintage cat horror movie would be a meeting of two of my favorite things.

On that note, semi-related: not a lot of good feline horror movies (especially horror movies that don't victimize cats), but a major exception to the rule is the 1977 anthology 'The uncanny,' with a cast including Peter Cushing & Donald Pleasence. Highly, highly recommended, if you haven't seen it!

I guess Pet Sematary might count, and Stephen King also wrote Cat's Eye and Sleepwalkers (which many might not consider "good" but it's so weird I love it anyway). Coraline by @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com could be considered cat-related horror! Val Lewton's Cat People from the 1940s.

Can we consider the movie version of Cats to be horror where it is the audience who are victimized?

A Night In the Lonesome October by Zelazny has a bit of horror in it, and a wonderful cat.

Sleepwalkers and Coraline live at opposite ends on the cat movies I love spectrum

Sleepwalkers is so batshit - I love it. And then there are the bonus cameos for horror nerds: Stephen King of course, but also Clive Barker, John Landis, Joe Dante, and Tobe Hooper.

The Corpse Grinders(1971) is about a cat food company who makes cat food for "cats who like people" if you know what I mean, unfortunately the kitties get hungry for more. I don't know if real cats were treated badly in it but a few stuffed special effects cats get tossed around.

Oh dang, I totally forgot about 'Cat's eye.' Definitely enjoyed the 40s 'Cat people,' & how could I forget Paul Schrader's remake of 1982, which I personally love? I guess there's more out there than first came to mind; in fairness, 'The uncanny' carries a very different vibe from most others 😝
