The answer to salty grits vs sweet grits is yes. My current favorite is salt, butter, pepper, cinnamon, then sausage links on the side and maple syrup on top. What's yours?
Tortilla chips too bland? Salt the sour cream.
Have some self-respect and do not use only two tablespoons of butter or oil for a dish that makes 4 or 5 servings.
If you're following a recipe on a cutesy cooking blog, you can probably safely double every seasoning the first time you make it
You can mix about half Nutella and half natural peanut butter (peanuts, salt) and salt to taste for a smoother, deeper-tasting dip

If you are cooking sweet potatoes in the oven, it will take at minimum an hour. Do not believe any online recipe that says otherwise.
