Well idk I think the fact that it’s now divided between ordinary conservative and fucking bonkers conservative (albeit along familiar geographical lines) is, in fact, deeply troubling in completely new ways
There was a Wendover about this recently - the East still hasn't caught up to the West economically and culturally and this feels oddly like 1932 all over again
They were always like this because they never had a 1968 type reckoning and instead had to be told by the Soviets 'please don't invade Czechoslovakia again because of the optics'
It looks ugly but AfD still falling short of polls before election No one in Europe wants to work with them, especially the French right wing. The headlines about election are a bit hysterical. Energy would be better spent on adopting sound immigration policies and combatting Russian propaganda.

I think the only people getting away with that is Labour in the UK and that’s only because the insane nationalist populists are already in power.
