I think the frontrunner spine cars were rather widespread but eventually railroads realized that multi-unit cars get similar economy with a much shorter rigid wheelbase

Date yourself with a shop that doesn't exist anymore I did make it to Gray's Drugs from Vic's photo a couple times, but I think the greatest vestigial pull for me would be to try and drive up to CompUSA in Roseville
