Any grammar experts willing to advise? My son needs to answer a question in a single sentence no longer than 50 words for a college application. I've looked at what he wrote, which likely should be two sentences, and am wondering if a semicolon or a hyphen would save the day.

A room in my friend Gerald's enormous studio. He's an artist, bought a commercial building in an industrial CT town and transformed it. 1940s industrial machinery next to French antiques & pre-Columbian artifacts. Famous paintings next to my son's kindergarten art. The studio is a sculpture.
