Hey look. I guess the president in Brazil doesn't get immunity. How can the country possibly function?
SAO PAULO (AP) — Brazil's federal police indict ex-President Bolsonaro for money laundering and criminal association, source confirms.

Something to look forward to under Trump 2.0
Responding to the recent tearing down of several confederate statues, Trump declares he will build a “National Garden of American Heroes” - a park filled with hundreds of statues of “the greatest Americans to ever live," from Antonin Scalia to Alex Trebek. (It is never built.)

RFK should just say fuck it and do a July 4 hot dog fundraiser. With Noem as special guest.

Thought experiment: Imagine if Obama, after claiming an election had been stolen from him and being convicted of 34 felonies, was granted immunity by SCOTUS justices who had taken undisclosed luxury trips on George Soros' dime. The fact that you can't even imagine this scenario tells you something.

For the same reason handlers of search & rescue dogs occasionally have volunteers put themselves in a position to be "found" alive in a grim disaster scene -- to keep up morale so that these dogs keep working -- I give you this screen shot from the BOP showing the current location of Steve Bannon.

You'd think having the electorate learn a worm ate part of your brain and then died in there and was never removed would be the end of this. But no.

Wildest story yet in France: 1. Far-right/RN candidate said he was dropping out. 2. Turns out: He lied! He filed last minute. 3. Left (in 3rd) had dropped out, then filed once RN said he was out. She tried to drop out again; but too late. So 3 names remain. www.ouest-france.fr/elections/le...

He has said he wanted the military to shoot protesters. John Roberts says that if re-elected, he can.
If Trump were to personally shoot someone on Fifth Avenue: Not immune. (Probably. Maybe.) If he were to order the army to massacre thousands on Fifth Avenue: Immune. (Very clearly, under the decision.) But from a constitutional perspective, the latter is the grave danger to guard against.

I remember laughing at Johnson when he said this about Trump's conviction on 34 felony counts: "I think that the Justices on the court – I know many of them personally – I think they are deeply concerned about that, as we are. So I think they'll set this straight."

I’m trying to figure out how to live in a world where John Bolton is dramatically more sensible than all 6 Republican Justices.

So, basically, the ~30% who want unrestricted guns, and abortion banned in every circumstance, and who think the election was stolen, and who won't get vaccinated, and who want the ten commandments in schools, and who think the president is above the law, well, those ~30% run the country now.

When we look back, today will feel more consequential than J6. Might not lend itself to dramatic footage, but it’s certainly been effective. Decades and billions led up to this day. I remember my mom talking about the John Birchers 50 years ago

Reminder: Steve Bannon is spending his first night in prison tonight. Of 120.

Gotta say, even my largely politics-is-not-for-me relatives on Facebook are having a fucking conniption over the SCOTUS ruling. My uncle posted "We left England because we don't want a King. Charles is an inbred." I'm not sure what one has to do with the other, but he's right.

Easy to lose sight of the significance here, but the sitting president just gave a speech condemning the Supreme Court for a ruling that expands presidential power. It’s also a president who stands to benefit from this ruling, given that his opponent is vowing to imprison him and his family.

It's too bad the 2nd Amendment dudes who swore they'd be the undauntable defenders of our democracy against attack by a brutal monarch turned out to be too busy denouncing rainbow plushies at Target.

many things make me angry about the supreme court but one of the biggest things is just that none of those cowards in the gang of six will ever take real questions from the public
