I mean it’s been pointed out that the problem at the heart of it all is that Biden can do all the things people are demanding-live rallies, interviews every day, and even president at the same time but the people who don’t want to believe he’s capable still won’t no matter what. he has done rallies, he’s done radio call-ins, he’s done sit down meetings and he is still doing his job as president with a major hurricane in the carribean and a major fire in california
There will always be a slip they can pounce on or a reason this one didn’t count or hell they’ll just ignore that he is doing these things at all. The problem isn’t something Biden can solve and that is damning for our media who are supposed to inform us about reality.
I didn't need the media to tell me how to feel about what I saw in the debate, and indeed I largely avoid reading op-ed articles and analysis pieces. Biden created high expectations for the debate in May and ended up hoist on his own pétard.
I don't think anyone is saying he didn't have a bad debate- although I also would maintain that he improved as the debate went on. How does that intersect with the resistance on the part of the media to cover and discuss his nine appearances since where he showed solid capacity?
I don't really give any weight to scripted events. I do think it's mistake to leave an information vacuum instead of doing interviews or a press avail. Press conferences, town halls, and other unscripted events are an important aspect of governing nowadays.
